@TrueCrazyFrog is the official, verified Twitter account for Crazy Frog. As of September 2022, it has 83.7 thousand followers and over 2000 tweets.

The account was created on April 22, 2020 and is run by the Social Media team. It was verified by Twitter on November 16, 2021.[1]

The account was involved in controversy on multiple occasions, such as when it posted an image of Crazy Frog hanging from a noose, and it announcing the launch of official Crazy Frog NFT's to be released by Metabeats.

Notable Tweets

First Tweet

The first tweet was posted the day the account was created, April 22, 2020. The tweet got over 13,000 likes.

Guess who's back!!! #crazyfrog #newalbum #thecrazyfrogofficial[2]

Creepy frog

Scary Crazy Frog

In a series of tweets asking the audience various questions, Crazy Frog attaches a fan-made (artist unknown), creepy, elongated Crazy Frog model with the caption:

What are you most afraid of?[3]

The tweet has over 50,000 likes.

The attached image was originally an older promotional image.

Suicide Tweet

On July 1, 2020, the account posted an image of Crazy Frog hanging by a noose, appearing to have committed suicide, with the caption, "Goodbye, world."[4] After backlash from users stating that it was a poor-taste suicide joke, the tweet was deleted, and an apology was posted.

**Apologies for the previous tweet. It was incredibly insensitive. A few people have access to this account. The original poster will be dealt with accordingly. Thank you all for your support, and once again, incredibly sorry for what they posted.[5]

This was the first time it was mentioned that the account was run by a group of people.

"Back from my nap..."

After the suicide post, the account was very quiet for about a month, mostly throughout August 2020. After internal issues were resolved, the account tweeted again after two months.

Hey all! Back from my nap... Wait... Was I really asleep for that long?! My alarm clock must have not gone off... Sorry![6]

This tweet went semi-viral, with over 30,000 likes and 8,000 retweets.

"Who was in Paris?"

On November 29, 2021, the Twitter account Quote Tweeted a popular Tweet by @CrazyFrogg, alleging that Crazy Frog had died of Swine Flu. In response to Crazy Frog's final words, "I WANT TO GO TO PARIS,"[7] the official account asks, "Who was in Paris?"

The tweet is referencing a meme relating to Jay-Z and Kanye West's single, N***as in Paris, where people pose the question, "Who was in Paris?"[8][9]

Metabeats Announcements

The original tweet regarding the NFT controversy.

Following the release of Tricky on December 10, 2021, users on Twitter noticed the link to Metabeats in the video description. People began spreading this news, calling the return of Crazy Frog nothing more than a way to shill NFTs. To try to mitigate the controversy, a few posts were made to try to paint NFTs in a more positive light, while at the same time "understanding anyone's aversion toward NFTs right now." These posts also linked to the team email.[10]

Forgot to mention something! My return is NOT only to sell NFTs! Please understand that! More content will be coming in the future!

These initial tweets only poured fuel on the fire though. Two jokes at Crazy Frog's expense were tweeted afterward. This was also followed by a confirmation that the NFTs will not be cancelled.

WON'T cancel the NFTs.[11]

Given the team email was posted, many began sending critical emails to it, some even death threats. This prompted on December 13, 2021, three days after the initial controversy, the infamous thread of tweets about the team getting death threats by email.[12][13]

Hello, everyone. We would like to start this message by acknowledging that while we appreciate all the valid criticism toward NFTs, sending us death threats and other nasty things to our email isn't cool or productive. 1/9

All tweets relating to the NFT controversy were later deleted. The aftermath of the controversy left many thousands of followers to unfollow or block the account.

Ratioing Elon Musk

On June 4, 2022, Elon Musk tweeted a meme about Crazy Frog.

looney tunes are just normal tunes to me. crazy frog is just a normal frog to me.[14]

Two days later in response, Crazy Frog replied an edited version of the infamous image of Elon Musk standing next to convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell[15][16], replacing her face with Crazy Frog's. The reply garnered no response from Musk, but has over 180,000 likes and over 20,000 retweets.[17] Compared to Musk's less than 100,000 likes and 6,000 retweets, Crazy Frog's ratio was successful.

crazy fren

Vargskelethor Reference

On June 13, 2022, the account tweeted a picture of a poorly drawn Crazy Frog with the caption, "expand ding." This is a reference to the popular Twitch livestreamer, Vargskelethor (Vinesauce Joel), and a chat inside joke, Fren.[18] The tweet has over 12,000 likes. Viewers of Vargskelethor were critical of this shout-out, calling it a lazy promotion of the NFTs.

The tweet was made as Joel was streaming. He reacted to the tweet live.[19]

"penis"

Around late August to early September 2022, a popular meme for brand accounts was to post a single word relating to their brand.[20] In Crazy Frog's case, this single word was:

penis[21]

This tweet got over 360,000 likes and over 60,000 retweets. This is notably Crazy Frog's most viral tweet to date, as well as fastest follower growth.

Death of Queen Elizabeth II

On September 8, 2022, the Queen of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II had passed away.[22] Uncharacteristically, Crazy Frog shared his condolences with the tweet:

R.I.P. The Queen 🕯️[23]

The tweet on Last Week Tonight, episode aired September 11, 2022.

Due to the absurdity of Crazy Frog sharing his condolences, the tweet got over 100,000 likes and 15,000 retweets. The tweet was also featured on Last Week Tonight With John Oliver.

It is a big moment which for some reason absolutely everyone felt that they had to weigh in on from Crazy Frog, which tweeted out ‘RIP the Queen,’ candle emoji – a tweet that’s impossible to read without mentally adding RING DING DING DING DING, BAM BAM.[24]
