"The Boss" in Axel F.

"The Boss", also known as the "Evil Boss" and possibly named Deathunter, is the faceless, unnamed primary antagonist to Crazy Frog. They are a bounty hunter with the goal of catching Crazy Frog and stopping his antics, commanding Boss Drone and the other Drones to capture him. They first appeared in Axel F and has appeared in most other major music videos.

Their identity is unknown, with their face never being shown to the audience. According to a 2022 Kaktus Film brand style guide, they created the Drones for the sole purpose of destroying Crazy Frog, looking for "order and silence in the world."

Appearance

The Boss sits on an armchair in their hideouts. Their face, nor any other features are ever revealed except for their arm, typically angrily pushing a button to command the Drones. They appear to wear a navy blue blazer, and have a gold ring on their ring finger.

In the story boards for Axel F, The Boss had long, bony fingers with sharp, claw-like fingernails.

Hideouts

Surveillance Van

The skull emblem used on the Drones and The Boss's surveillance van.

In the Axel F music video, they sit inside a black surveillance van with a skull emblem on the side and satellite antennas on the roof. The same emblem appears on all Drones, and the button which The Boss uses to command them. Inside the van, there are buttons and levers which they control the Drones with. Screens inside the van tells The Boss about a $50,000 bounty on Crazy Frog, and tracks his current location in the city. In Knight Rider, The Boss drives the van, pursuing Crazy Frog down the desert road.

Submarine Station

In the Popcorn music video, The Boss sits inside a whale-shaped submarine station. Like their van, there are a lot of controls and screens for tracking Crazy Frog and controlling the Drones.

Underground Toy Factory

In the Last Christmas music video, The Boss monitors their underground toy factory. When they see Crazy Frog intrude, they grab him with a claw and drops him into a vat of liquid, scanning him to replicate him as stuffed plushes.

Mission Control Center

In the Tricky music video, The Boss sits in what appears to be a mission control center for the Space-Y rocket ship. Instead of a button to command the Drones, they use a touch screen to reset them.

Space-Y Space Ship

In A Ring Ding Ding Ding, The Boss sits in a control center for a Space-Y space ship. They call upon the Drones to launch an attack on the intruding Crazy Frog, and use a tractor beam to capture him, causing a power overload on the ship, leading to its destruction.

Theories

The Drones are tasked to capture Crazy Frog in Tricky.
  • A potential name for The Boss is Deathunter, however, they appear to only want to capture Crazy Frog and not kill him.
    • In Axel F, Crazy Frog has a bounty set for $50,000.
    • In Tricky, the Drones are tasked to "capture at all costs," but not to kill.
    • At the end of Tricky, The Boss simply ejects Crazy Frog from the rocket for not having a ticket, but doesn't choose to kill him.
    • In A Ring Ding Ding Ding, The Boss tries to capture Crazy Frog using a tractor beam, however also tries attacking him by sending Drones after him shooting him with lasers.
      • Could have been nonlethal lasers?
  • The Boss is a bounty hunter, but also an entrepreneur.
    • They could have possibly founded the Space-Y company which built the rocket in Tricky.
    • They could possibly sell the Drones as well as policing devices?
    • They appear to own the underground toy factory in Last Christmas, selling toys of Crazy Frog
      • Kidnapping and imprisoning Santa could have been a ploy to create a monopoly on Christmas
  • The Boss could have possibly died in the ending of Axel F, where Crazy Frog launches the rocket into the surveillance van. However, this would mean that all subsequent music videos are prequels to Axel F, or there is a new boss after the events of Axel F.
    • The surveillance van also gets flipped off road in Knight Rider, potentially killing a second, new boss?
    • The submarine also gets crushed by the Mega Robot at the end of Popcorn.
    • Chances are, it follows cartoon logic where everything is fine after each video.
    • Likewise, at the end of A Ring Ding Ding Ding, the cargo ship The Boss was on exploded, which could have killed them.
  • The Boss could possibly control the police force, which is automated and controlled remotely through the Drones.
    • This is supported by Drones which are dressed like police officers in Crazy Frog Racer.
    • The reason for Crazy Frog's bounty in Axel F could be for speeding tickets?
  • The Boss could be an evil genius who built the Drones and the Mega Robot to take over the world.
    • Crazy Frog could be the one foiling their plans for world domination.
    • The Drones as a police force could be used to forcefully take over the world.
    • In A Ring Ding Ding Ding, it is revealed The Boss or Space-Y has plans to dominate not only Earth, but Mars as well.

Trivia

  • As of 2022, Kaktus Film only uses gender-neutral pronouns when talking about The Boss. Their gender is ambiguous.
    • However, the 2007 Official Annual book does refer to The Boss as "he." As of currently, The Boss's true identity has yet to be revealed, which would be possible in future music videos.
  • The Boss is left-handed.
